Capitola: The Monte Foundation proposes to host a fireworks fundraiser for the city of Capitola on Oct. 11.
The City Council will discuss the matter at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The date for this show is a Sunday, a change from last year, when the Monte fireworks show was moved to Saturday night to accommodate a wedding party on the wharf.
Police Chief Rudy Escalante reports business owners find the Oct. 11 date agreeable but they prefer the fireworks to be shot from a barge rather than the wharf, which they expect will impact business in the middle of a three-day weekend.
Council members also will set a time limit for supporters of the proposed 6,000-square-foot skate park at Monterey Park to submit their plans.
Mayor Dennis Norton said he would like to see those plans by the end of June in light of the city project to build a park on McGregor Drive with a dog park, bike pump track and above-ground features for skateboarders.
