Capitola >> A missing 91-year-old man with severe Alzheimer’s was returned home safely Saturday night by the California Highway Patrol after driving more than 220 miles south.

Agush Gurga reportedly drove away from his home on the 700 block of Bay Avenue in a Lexus around 5:20 p.m. Saturday, causing Capitola police to issue a silver alert.

Police said Sunday that Gurga was stopped safely by a CHP officer around 10:45 p.m. north of Santa Barbara, near Buelton, and was taken to a nearby medical facility without incident.
